Registration - Fall 2010

An exciting time is upon us:  Fall Registration.  The website www.brightonacademy.net is open for registration.   I wanted to highlight a couple of changes for next year:   
 
Registration will be online only:  You will register as a parent for free, then you will be able to register each of your students (charges explained below) and select classes for them.  For detailed instructions on how to register - click here.  At the end of Student registraion and for each class, you will pay through a service called PayPal.  PayPal allows for funds to be transferred from your bank account electronically.  You may also pay via your debit or credit card on the paypal website if you do not have a paypal account.  Go to www.paypal.com for more information on this service.  To register, you will be required to pay for each class, individually.  There are several informational fields to fill out.  For your privacy, some of the fields will be private (like birthdates) and will be hidden from everyone but teachers and myself. We have also gone to great extent to protect the Brighton families, students, and teachers.  Please have patience while registering. Due to the enhanced security we have built into the website there are a few extra steps needed to provide security for our families.
 
Volunteering:  NO VOLUNTEERING REQUIREMENT!  As the school continues to grow, we want to provide a consistent service to the families and the church.  For consistency and ease of operation, we are hiring 9 positions. These used to be volunteer positions.  However, now they will be year-long commitments.  If you would like to apply for these, email me.  The ones not already filled are Lunch positions (2 for Monday, 2 for Wednesday) and 3:00-5:00 positions (1 on Monday, 1 on Wednesday).  The other three positions (Party Coordinator, Store Coordinator, Stuco Sponsor) are filled this year and those people will continue next year.  To enable this switch, each student will pay $20 per semester. 
 
You are always welcome to help with anything at Brighton.  We need all talents and interests to add to the kids' experience, fun, and sense of community.
 
Administrative/Registration Fees:  The administrative/registration fee is per student per semester.  When you register, you will be registering each student separately and paying for each student separately.  The fee is $60 per student per semester.  See our Pricing Policy Here.
 
Website: The website is an awesome tool for the teachers to interact with you and your child.  It also has some social interaction features for the students on this secure sight.  Only registered Brighton families are able to access information and become a part of this network. The website will also allow for us to have announcements, sell used books, find homes for puppies, have forums for moms to share homeschooling tips, encouragement, etc.  The website is a course management system and has the capability to extend your student's learning beyond the classroom.  For example:  Assignments, grading, class chats, turning in homework online, quizzes and tests, etc.  We are very excited about the new site and its capabilities and will be learning together.  Please be patient in navigating the site.  Also, the teachers and I are learning along with you and we will grow into the system's features during the next year.
